Really sorry to hear about your mum being in ICU @Zoe7 . I had missed you all week and worried something was amiss. Of course your real life family must take priority. Your forum family will always be here for you, when you can make it back. Give your fur babies a big cuddle, and try to find a free moment or two for some self care too.

My experience has mostly been in country towns in Western Australia, as distinct from a major city environment. I do know of one lady in Geraldton, to whom I have felt comfortable and confident about referring other people.

In the same city, I have had less than favourable experience with another, who no longer practices there.

At one stage I was travelling the 400 km to Perth to speak with a fellow, who is now retired.

It is a professional area of expertise that is so important to get right, in terms of matching qualification, personality and, in some cases, even gender, and other criteria.

Recently, I have been speaking with a counsellor, who may be able to assist with the general information that you require. I hope to be able to ask her tomorrow. I will post whatever information I receive. If I am able to acquire general information and sources through which potential psychology/psychiatry people may be qualified for suitability, that information may be of help to you, Anastasia and others also.

I have started a new thread, which can be accessed via the link below, on a new web page:

into which, suggestions can be made about information to which the thread title refers.

I expect that It would be quite inappropiate, and contrary to Forum Guidelines to include any names of individuals.

@Zoe7 really sorry to hear about your mum. Hope she pulls through okay, hope your son is recovering and hope you are holding up there. Sorry I can't find the words at the moment, but I'm sending you lots of love and hugs. xx

@Anastasia can't help hon sorry. I've had the worst luck with Pdocs. But in my personal experience my clinical psychologist has been far more helpful to my recovery than my pdoc. I'm still on the same meds my GP prescribed me, so effectively my Pdoc sent me manic on 4 separate occasions looking for the perfect cocktail but I was already on the best one for me. I fired him. So I just have my GP & Tdoc now. If I need a pdoc in future I'll be going through Melb Clinic. Hope it works out. xx
