Far and Away

Re: Far and Away

Thank you @Snowie

I do believe in what you say about luck of the draw. It's just bf and I are divided and have argued to the point I don't want to discuss it with him anymore.

All I want is what's best for my boy. Bf also suggested gp this morning for a referral. I've talked to SANE and found three which I have contacted but yet to hear back from. As to if they're good or not who'd know. There's reviews on the internet but again people usually only post bad. So if there's no reviews does that mean it's a good thing?...

It's such a minefield and my boy doesn't want to deal with any of it. When the one we tried said she wouldn't take him he retreated and now doesn't even want to talk about it.

In truth I feel like giving up too but it doesn't sit right to keep the one he has.

I keep going over and over what is best for my boy...that's all that matters.

Thank you for your response @Snowie, that alone does help xox

Re: Far and Away

I can understand not wanting to deal with it @Anastasia

I guess if we were rejected by a pdoc then that would not make us feel great.

I am glad your son has you in his corner hon. It sounds like you would do anything for him and are trying your best to get a good pdoc.

Perhaps the gp could help. They might be able to refer someone.

I do agreee with you that people normally only comment if they want to write a bad review. Most don't comment with good reiews.

Re: Far and Away

@AnastasiaI used my son's psychiatrist for a year (he was an angel for example he wouldnt charge fees for my son only me). When he left the practise I was given to one of the staff who he recommended and she is very good at what she does. I prefer female ones as I tend to flirt if I have a male psychiatrist.

Re: Far and Away

Oh @Faith-and-Hope I'm so glad you are here.

My anxiety is through the roof having posted this here now I feel I shouldn't have. I'm sorry 😔

I have asked members to reply elsewhere x

Re: Far and Away

@Anastasia  Do you have community groups for your local area on Facebook? I have them for where I live and people often ask for recommendations like this on them. Even better if you can perhaps ask an admin of the group to post an anonymous post. Just an idea.

other than that i too have found it really difficult to find someone suitable. I know it's hard ans your boy is so lucky to have you in his corner with this, it's so important to have a good treatment team.

Re: Far and Away

Hi @Anastasia  this must be so difficult for you.

Last year I had a great pdoc whom I knew through work but he only agreed to see me last year while I was acutely unwell.

I now have a pdoc referred by my gp but I don’t think she’s as good as the one I had.

Because of my work I know of several pdocs but they’re mainly on my “note to self list” not to visit.

Maybe your gp can help. What you are paying is ridiculous. I used to have a list of all those in my area who bulk billed but that’s no use to you. Ask around. There will be someone who is the right fit for your boy.

Re: Far and Away

@Anastasia Out of my field of expertise sorry Anastasia but wishing you every bit of good luck as you figure it out. Sorry I can't help out here 💙

Re: Far and Away

@Faith-and-Hope @Snowie and everyone else (too many to tag right now) - a quick check in ... Mum is in ICU in hospital so it has been work, hospital, sleep (when I can Smiley Sad) She is breathing on her own today but not without some difficulty at times. Hoe briefly to fee the fur babies and then back until visiting times end. Not sure when I will be back but my priority right now is my real life family ...know my family here will all look out for each other Heart

@Anastasia Sorry to interrupt here Hon - if you do not think this pdoc is right then go with your gut and do whatever you need to do for your boy. Hugs Hon Heart

Re: Far and Away

Oh dear @Zoe7 So sorry to hear about your Mum.

Your priority should be your family hon.

We will be with you in spirit 💗💗💗

Re: Far and Away

Sorry @Zoe7  that isn’t good at all.

Take care of you 💜💜💜
