Re: Depression- Really Struggling- may be triggering

@Former-Member or @Former-Member i dont know how to break it down im just in one big washing machine 💔💔

Re: Depression- Really Struggling- may be triggering

Hi @Former-Member

Mindfulness and grounding techniques are really helpful to get you to a point where you can break things down hour by hour.

It's about getting that swirling washing machine to slow down.

Do you have any mindfulness or grounding techniques that have worked in the past?

Do other members have any suggestions on grounding techniques that have worked for them?

Re: Depression- Really Struggling- may be triggering

@NikNik ive been trying to keep busy but im not alive i feel like a walking zombie 😞
Mindfullness usually works if im anxious but im.more depressed than anxious amd for this i haven't worked out what helps
Im.just trying to do what everyoned suggests and ride out the waves like @Phoenix_Rising does

Re: Depression- Really Struggling- may be triggering

Keep riding it out @Former-Member. I know it's hard but if you can try to find anything that gives you comfort at all it might help too. Something like your necklace, a favourite jumper, some comfy pjs, a song, something that smells really good, a poem, a quote, a photo, fluffy socks, soup, something in your favourite colour - anything that even for a moment gives you a slightly different feeling. If you find it then maybe hold on to it for a bit while you ride it out.

Re: Depression- Really Struggling- may be triggering

Hi @Former-Member, I'm going to be around now until my forum curfew so I will ride the wave with you if you like. I saw that @NikNik was asking for suggestions about grounding. Often when I am riding a wave, I lie prostrate on the carpet in my loungeroom and verbally stim (which is basically making a long continous sound). I find that it super helps. Granted, if I do it in public, people tend to call emergency services on me, but it works super well in the privacy of my own home. Smiley Happy I also rock a lot - either sitting up or lying down. I find it calming. Within the last year or so, I've also discovered that focusing on learning something (not important study-type learning, just random stuff learning) seems to draw on a different part of my brain such that the big feelings gradually feel less big. This might fall more under the category of distraction rather than grounding I guess, I'm not sure. However, it has really got me through some dreadful episodes of severe depression in the past year...and as a bonus, I can now recite the Greek alphabet!!! Smiley Very Happy I will ride with you tonight @Former-Member.

Re: Depression- Really Struggling- may be triggering

Inching your way through sounds perfect @Former-Member. I just read that you're about to start some of your garden again. Looking forward to seeing if you want to tag me if you put something new up. I'm heading for a bath and then a trip to the island I think 🙂

Re: Depression- Really Struggling- may be triggering

thank you @Phoenix_Rising

im really getting washed aroud and i dont think its going to get easier for a bit. im scared and overwhelmed and emotional and nervous

i thought about reasearching the tests that are coming u so i can get a better understanding but i think looking it up on the internet many horrid stories are going to pop up and make it worse so i think ill go against that

and yes ill be doing my gardening drawing tonight and hopefully get somewhere with it @CheerBear
