Life can be a Pain

Re: Life can be a Pain

@Owlunar. Thanks for spelling excema correctly for me. Yes my son developed excema when a few months old. I took him to my allergy specialist. He was allergic to the baby formula - dairy. So we switched him to soy. Problem gone. After a year we introducd dairy in small quantities. in small amounts no reaction,. But when he had too much - excema the next day.

Then when he was 18 months old, he became allergic or sensitive to strawberries. Again., We removed them from his diet for a few years. Now he can eat them. When 5 years old it was Mangoes. He was really upset about this one. He loves his mangoes. But again after removing them from his diet for a few years, he can eat them now. Just in moderation.

Thank god i'm not allergic to dust mites. I rarely vacuum. Yes you do need to leave the house if they are vacuuming. You don't want to cause a reaction.

When I' super sensitive and someone comes near me with perfume on, I react really badly. Once irritated by one thing, all of a sudden i can't go near things that don't normally set me off. eg: if the neighbours are mowing, I have to shut all my doors and windows., I cant put petrol in the car on sensitive days. But at other times I can. When I'm worn down, I also become super sensitive. But these allergies are not classed as allergies. They are classed as sensitivities. The only thing I am allergic to is mould. And airbourne mould is in the air everyday. But on north windy days, the mould count goes up my a fe hundred percent.

Isn't it stupid how doctors think you should try a medication that you have reacted to badly in the past. They just don't want to have to look up alternative drugs. Trail mix. Thank god your mum told you about the sulphur allergy. You could have been in all sorts of trouble.

I often have to explain to doctors over and over again, that I am allergic to a particular coating on some medications. Problem is, it's very hard to determine if a tablet has this coating. It's not easy to look up and find the information.

Yes you hae to be super careful with your asthma. You don't want to set it off.,

I hope you get what you need at your doctors.

Re: Life can be a Pain

I had a friend who was diagnosed with SAD @Shaz51. It didn't help that she lived in a terrace house with almost no light coming in.

Is your husband now going to take vitamin D tablets along with his other medication. I often take vitamin D during the winter months, to help lift my mood a little. And it doesn't matter how much I am outdoors in winter, My Vitamin D is always low in winter.

Do you take Viamin B ?? @utopia, if soo do you find they help

Re: Life can be a Pain

@Shaz51 I take Vitamin B1 - because I was a drinker. I have a few tablets left and when I finish those I won't take anymore. I haven't noticed anything while I've been on them.

Re: Life can be a Pain

@Owlunar One reason I love this thread is that you are realistic.  You admit life "can be" a pain and certainly have a lot to endure but you did not go the next step and say life is a pain ... as there are many consolations if we look around.

Funny about the supplement conversation .. @utopia @Shaz51 atm I am finishing off my Vitamin B and iron pills ... The main thing I notice are yellow to dark brown wee! Woman Tongue I take a little bit each year as my levels are generally low ... but managed.

Hello @Wanderer @jay2

So is the colour of the pill more important or the consequences ....

Smiley Happy

I am sorry you had that experience with psychologist.

However I am glad you posted about it, have a solicitor and are going to stand your ground.

I have been kicked when down or have opened myself up ...so many times now I almost dont take it personally.  That is I do experience it in my viscera but am learning to bat it back to the perpetrator.  My problem is that i am slow to do this as probably in the stunned bunny state for a long time.

It is important for many people ( the general community and any carers or those with Lived Experience effected by mental health issues and the systems) that we raise some of the things that

so called mental health professionals do

that are harmful

It helps give others perspective and maybe one day the courage to assert their needs and rights.

Re: Life can be a Pain

@Appleblossom Am I right in thinking the iron tablets are the ones that make the wee darker in colour.

Re: Life can be a Pain

Yes @utopia

are they not good?

Apparently the foaming agent is SLS Sodium lauryl sulphate ..

I buy mostly aluminium free deodorants, cept my son got hooked on a brand ... and a teacher said I had to provide the kids with the deodorant of their choice .. I just gave in ... seemed a pretty funny educational stance though !

Re: Life can be a Pain

Hello there all.
Good to remember that vitamins and natural supplements can sometimes interact with other meds that people are on. Always good to check with your doctor and/or pharmacist!

Re: Life can be a Pain

always good to remember too @Former-Member, @Wanderer, @Appleblossom, @utopia, @NikNik,

is that the Body only takes what vitamins and natural supplements it needs , so it is best to check with the doctor Smiley Happy

also I thought taking iron tablets for me would be good but the blood test showed that I was getting tooo much of one iron which caused a big problem
