Re: Chest Pain and Anxiety

@Maggie - when I go to get my bp reading, I sit and do a few breaths - hoping that my breathing exercise will lower my reading. My psychologist says, that by thinking about lowering it - I'm underneath thinking it will be high. Hence I do end up with a high reading.

Re: Chest Pain and Anxiety

@utopia I read on your other thread yesterday about HSP. I went onto a site a answered a quiz. I ticked every box. That amazed me. I've been talking to my counsellor about empathy, I really interesting topic and not a lot of info. I might be off topic here, but in my mind I'm trying to get out what I mean. Medically we respond differently. We feel things differently, more intense. That's not saying it's in our minds, sensitivity is high. I hope this makes a bit of sense to you.

Re: Chest Pain and Anxiety

It does make sense @Maggie. Since coming to this site 2 years ago, I have noticed a common pattern in a lot of the members. They have high empathy, high compassion and sensitivities.
I wonder if this is part of having a MI or if those of us who are more sensitive that the general population, are more likely to develop a MI.
I find this a really interesting concept.
If it is that sensitive people are more likely to develop a MI, then maybe more needs to be done in our schools, our homes and our businesses to reduce stress and be more accommodating and aware of people with sensitivities. Imagine how much nicer and less stressful it would be to go to CentreLink.
Wouldn't that be a wonderful world.

Re: Chest Pain and Anxiety

Yes @utopia what a difference it would make. Learning, doing, working. The discussions I'm having with my counsellor are very interesting about empathy. She discribed it as coming from a higher level of comprehension. I read a little yesterday, some say it's learned. Not in my background. Others say it's in our genes. I don't have much family history. I just find it intriguing as I know someone with no empathy whatsoever. That was how our discussions started as I had no idea how people could be like that. Also the creativity side of things predisposes us to sensitivity. I might need to shut up, I'm on a roll. Off to do some more reading. Good chatting. Thanks.🙃🙃

Re: Chest Pain and Anxiety

Some great discussions with your therapist @Maggie. Very interesting why some people have so much empathy and some have none.

Re: Chest Pain and Anxiety

Hey @utopia

I like this thread, though not the consequences ... of pounding heart rates ...

I had a very good doctor about 10 years ago and he treated me as if he presumed I had White Coat Syndrome, that is very gently and quetly explaining his actions, reasons, and medical procedures.  He did put me on bp meds which I took for about 7 years.  I am now off them and the underlying extreme anxiety is at the front of my current treatment.  I believe that the meds helped keep me in some quieter level until I I gained increased level of support personally.  My bp readings are high normal now so they are fine I am not taking those meds, but the other meds are increasing.  My psychologists know that there role is about containing the stress and they try.

Personally I had to go through the issues of understanding what a raised heart rate re ... cardio at gym was about ... as before seeing this doctor I had been at gym for about 7 years for back and neck issues ... its been a long story.  It is also why I know that my cure is not just about walking or more exercise ... its more subtle than that.

I will always be grateful for that male doctor's awareness and intelligent management of my health, beyond obvious, screaming out loud symptoms.  He also saw my son, but had become sick and was not practising when I joined this forum. I felt totally isolated.

Love your humour @Owlunar

Hey @BlueBay @Maggie

Hi @Appleblossom xxoo

Re: Chest Pain and Anxiety

It's so good when we find a good doctor who explains things to us clearly but without treating us like we are idiots (I've met some not so nice doctors) @Appleblossom.
I am now starting to be aware that when I read about mental health and other issues that are not so positive, I can feel my chest pain start to kick in. Even thinking about anxiety creates this pain. But I think it's good. Now I'm more aware, I might be able to reduce the severity of the pain or reduce my anxiety. That's the aim.
Why are you feeling so isolated today? Is it today in particular?

Re: Chest Pain and Anxiety

@utopia I wrote "felt" past tense.  I am alright just low level and quiet after a few prn yesterday.

Yes it makes all the difference the quality of gp and from there on ...

A friend of mine talks about the "fire in the belly" which  can motivate us to action. I think of that as a lower chakra ... chest is heart chakra ... chakras are about different energy centres in the body ...

I guess you are identifying with the plight of others as you have experienced similar.

Love
