I could not have done all I have been doing a year ago @Sam3 That is why I understand so much how hard the lack of motivation is. There are a lot of things I still struggle with but knowing I can achieve some things gives me the confidence to do other things. It can be a vicious cycle when all the negatives in your life tke over and you can't see any of the positives. I am definitely learning to focus more on the positives and work with them to motivate me to do other things. ...and I have had some amazing support from members here along the way and that has been gold!

Thanks for that @Zoe7 & would you believe I’ve been for a lovely walk since that post?! You’ve worked so hard for your health @Zoe7 & thank you for sharing some details so there’s context to your achievements. Would love to know how you and @TAB @CheerBear@Former-Member & anyone else avoids comparing themselves unfavourably to others. I’m sick of feeling “less than” & subsequently avoiding trying to do everyday tasks. I know life isn’t a competition but this comparing I do is absurd! Will continue to try to accept things as they are & nonetheless do something rather than nothing. Have you resisted smoking this arvo @TAB? Hello @Maggie pleased to meet you!

A lot of us find ourselves comparing ourselves to others but in reality it is only us that we need to impress @Sam3 I have come to believe that if I am true to myself then other things will follow - it does take time in most cases but the payoff is worth it. I try to treat others as I would like to be treated and that is with kindness and compassion - but also with truth - I believe that honesty is really important - even if sometimes it is hard to hear or to say ...and being honest with yourself is sometimes the hardest to deal with.
You have taken such a huge step in coming onto the forum and sharing your thoughts with us all and that is admirable. It does take a brave person to put themselves out there for possible jusgement of others but I also hope you are finding this a non-judgemental place. There truly is a wonderful community here and even when you are down on yourself there will be people to walk along with you and help pull you up when you need it. It really is great having your here.
@MDT Mostly slept today - woke with a massive headache but that has nearly completely gone (with the help of meds). Settle in for the evening now with the cricket on and planning on an early night - early appointment with psych so need to be up and about for that. Great job on looking for work already - you are on top of it and I hope you find something quickly. England is a great option for a young man to further their outlook on life as well as experience new things - I hope you find something.
