I wish I could share more if my cousin’s story @Owlunar but it would be too identifying. Suffice to say the highlight of her life was meeting her birth mother.
Yesterday was the anniversary of losing my Dad so my day was one of reflection as I weighed up the good with the bad.
it can be hard to reconcile what happens in life sometimes.

I understand hard anniversaries @Eve7 and I feel for you - life really does get to be a handful at times and there are always things better not to mention I am sure
My parents both died in January - different years of course but not that long ago - and their anniversaries are only 4 days apart. My daughter texted me on Dad's Day - and she always does on my son's day. I actually forgot about my mother's because of how ill my aunt was - I wasn't close to my mother and yet that was the harder event to endure
I have a long identifying story about my son as well - we adopted him not knowing his past at all - as he got older he became darker and he started to look aboriginal - my family as very racist and would not entertain any idea of the truth - it took me years to keep my promise to find his birth mother and I can't imagine how she felt to learn that he had died so many years before. Through a third person I learned the truth about his birth-father though - for which I am thankful
Thanks for sharing some of your story - it has been a tough week for you too
I'm sending my best thoughts
