Re: Lacking direction, unsure of what I need to do and generally just fed up.......

@BlueBay @Maggie @Meowmy

Well this new place is about as organised and as quick as whatver slow moving metaphor you can think of.

To top it off I have to do most of the work while my colleague who is paid more gets to sit about and not do much. Where's my payrise lol.

I emailed a colleague and there is a silver lining - she is happy to provide some form of reference and I her too. This is the same colleague who I was talking to a few months back when I accidentally tagged someone in an email I shouldn't have done. Lol. So that was a small bit of silver lining. She is resigning and I am thinking of doing similar. We discussed this a few weeks back actually about how there is no progression in one's career in this department. One wonders doesn't one?

Under mental duress today while all seems about me to be running average. Keeping my mental constitution intact is the challenge. As long as one can do that I believe anything can be done while trying not to overthink the damn thing.

3 days left after today. Bring it on I say.

Hearing your frustration @MDT. I'm sorry work isn't going so well, but glad you've found a supportive colleague. I'm wondering what there is you could do for yourself to get through as you countdown to what I'm guessing will be a bit of a break from work? Have you got something nice planned for when you've finished up for the day?

Re: Lacking direction, unsure of what I need to do and generally just fed up.......

Today not so much - my back is actually hurting a lot and I didn't get much sleep last night @TideisTurning
I think that has not helped.
But I went for lunch just now and had a burger. I also had a word to 2 colleagues about people here.

I daresay there is some vitality I bring by being "new" even i don't feel it.
Its nice to be able to freestyle chat to coworkers about video games or similar.

Maybe I'll do that when I get home. Play some games.

I had a crazy idea of turning my experiences at work into a novel set during wartime - about incompetence and how good people can fall into it. A crazy idea i guess.

Hi @MDT

Just a quick check in to see how things are going for you. I'm spending some time at the library before going to look at a rental property shortly. My problem at the moment is I look at properties but my housemate/friend and I get distracted and forget to put In for them and they end up going. We've also got the problem where our current property was taken over by a different agency halfway through the lease with the old agent doing a 3month inspection back in February and the new agency taken over in August. The guy managing the property now is an idiot who likes to threaten us by saying he always wins at vcat yet still won't produce receipts and lies to us. Anyway, we're just going to list the old agent first as the reference since she was half decent and should help us get a property more than him. It doesn't help that my sister knows the owner as they work in a different department to her in the city and he may have lost his job due to drink driving which he's not allowed to do as part of his job conditions and therefore, he'll do anything to keep the bond. That's enough of my stuff though. Sorry to carry on!

As for the case manager stuff, try looking at Seek as they reckon you can do a TAFE course in community services to become a case manager. I'm doing a uni degree in psychology and sociology and will major in disability and aged care so case management is just one subject I've got to study in 3rd year. My degree is entirely online so that's perfect for me. Maybe do a google search and see what you find.

Thanks by the way for giving me some new authors to explore as well. You seem to be very diverse in your reading and I admire that in a person. It's great to see different people reading different things. I still have a book I know of called Anna Karenina?- a classic- to read and I think Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe did a movie on that or something else that I want to read after seeing it years ago at the movies. I've also got a copy of War and Peace in my collection that I'd love to try and get into.

Talk later!

I'm actually really intrigued by that novel idea @MDT! For me, creative writing has been an incredibly therapeutic tool for release.

Re: Lacking direction, unsure of what I need to do and generally just fed up.......

@MDT hey Hamza, I am sure your novel will be entertaining to read ha.

Re: Lacking direction, unsure of what I need to do and generally just fed up.......

Judi that's great advice re seek. Will definitely look at that.

Yeah renting... i was looking flat mates the other day. The site for renting. I can afford reasonable digs atm but I'd be needing to love within my means at the same time.

Idk. That's next years battle I guess hey @Judi9877

Re: Lacking direction, unsure of what I need to do and generally just fed up.......

Tolstoy yes @Judi9877

I started Chekhov yesterday with The Man in the Case. It was a good short little read I enjoyed.
