Re: Gardens

Hello @Patches59 I hope your fairy garden musings are firming up. And you're keeping warm.

Tiger has regained all the weight he lost while he was in the cattery when I was unwell. I'm starting to remove the backyard shrubs myself with a bit of help. The backyard looks very bare without the plants I got lifted. But the Lorraine Lee rose is flowering.

Re: Gardens

My garden - everything’s on hold.  I have lost both Mohair plants due to damn wild rabbits.
mentally I’ve been hit from all sides recently.  Becoming aware of couple very nasty altercations involving other people living here has ignited my depression and sent my flight mode into overdrive.  At one point, I did lots of searching to work out how much it would cost me to more to another state.   Saw my therapist today and we had good talk about everything.

no longer thinking of moving (can’t afford to anyway).  Between these 2 incidents plus couple other things that have happened around the same time, don’t feel safe away from home, feeling used and abandoned.  Either struggling to sleep or sleeping for 12hrs+

Re: Gardens

Oh dear @Patches59 that's been a very difficult time for you. I'm glad you're not moving after all.

I'm sorry you lost both bracteantha mohave plants to the rabbits.

Neighbourhood disputes can be very troubling. Does your retirement village have any codes of conduct? I would have thought they were safer than the general community.

When not coping well my sleep can be at one extreme or the other too, being bipolar. But mostly I'm just a night owl, unable to wind down then sleeping late.

Are you still playing croquet? It would be a pity to lose that activity. But I can understand if you feel safest at home at the moment.  I hope your neighbour can still help make the planter boxes for the raised garden beds.

Someone offered to make edgings for my back garden but I'd like to replant first.

Re: Gardens

@Dimity Sorry for not even acknowledging what you mentioned about Tiger.  Must be big relief for you that his put the weight back on.  He would have been sensing you were not well plus the time away from you …. Poor man.

my 2 spent few days in cattery when I moved this last time.  They spent majority of the time curled up together hiding behind a blanket.

due to keeping things anonymous, I’m trying to be very careful what I say.  Village has a code of conduct that is part of agreement every person has to sign when moving in.  Racists and people with hot, nasty temper forget about these things.  Worst incident, person has been charged by police.  Outcome of eviction proceedings, unknown.

raised garden beds….. neighbour who volunteered to build them has lung and heart issues, currently waiting for information about possible organ transplant.  He is full time carer plus is involved with lots of things at the village.  I need to ask him for quote for materials plus birdbath I would like.   Couple weeks time I have initial appointment at private pain management clinic, approx $200 out of pocket each appointment.

im still playing croquet each Friday morning which I enjoy.  Yesterday was a disappointing, 12 hoops in total and my team scored 1.  Most weeks my team get 4 or 5 hoops with some weeks having got 7 hoops.  Usually lots of fun and laughter whilst playing, especially when someone misses a ball or mucks up an easy shot.

i recently ordered wrong type of magnetic sheets from online company.  Part of today will be requesting refund and ordering the correct type.  Metallic items I use to make the gift cards are currently all mixed up in a plastic box.  Double sided magnetic sheets will allow me to them into plastic pockets in a folder where I can find them easier

Re: Gardens

Thanks @Patches59 yes I'm very relieved Tiger is a bit better.

It's good there's a process underway re the incidents that troubled you. I can understand the flight instinct but hopefully things will settle.

I've finally ordered potting mix etc and some mushroom compost to use as a gsrden topping. I'm also getting some cacti and succulent mix for the cuttings I've been nurturing in the kitchen.

Re: Gardens

Hope you're OK and not in too much pain in this very cold weather @Patches59 . Probably your cats have sussed out the warmest spots.

Re: Gardens

Weather temperatures don’t have huge impact on majority of my arthritic areas @Dimity.   Left knee and upper spine are worse in cold or wet weather.  Heat packs are amazing.  Recently found some heat packs for use with hands ….open the outer wrapper, shake, wait couple minutes for warmth to start.

worst day recently was yesterday.  Croquet at 9am with cold breeze that got colder during the morning.  Short sleeved t shirt, long sleeved thicker tshirt, polar fleece jumper and oversized polar fleece hoodie…. Plus gloves.

played at 9am, scored for 9:45am match, last minute fillin for 10:30am match.  Didn’t get home until about 11:30am and put heater on as soon as got inside.  Was very cold outside but I enjoyed the morning.

with day time temperatures struggling to get above 12degrees, only times I planning on being outside for awhile is for croquet, groceries and medical appointments.  Checked my dahlias yesterday, rabbits have had a feed on some of the leaves. 😥  2 plants stripped of almost every leaf.  They were all growing nicely with new growth.  One good thing, couple of the kalanchoe I bought last year are showing lots and lots of flower buds

how are you and Tiger fairing in this cold weather?

Re: Gardens

The rabbits sound very troublesome @Patches59 .

I think it's been warmer than 12 degrees here but not by much. I've been running the reverse cycle aircon most of the day as I have solar panels but it doesn't seem to do the job at night, I feel cold draughts. Tiger's ears are often cold. I could go back to the gas space heater and probably will do so tomorrow. I warm my bed with an electric blanket which helps my aches and pains.

I'm glad your kalanchoes are flowering. I regret giving my lovely orange one away. I have a couple of flowers on my red cyclamen and there seem to be 2 seedlings in the pot. My single rose is flowering well.

Take care.

Re: Gardens

Electric blankets are wonderful.

I get pain in my knees if I sleep with them unsupported. Due to this I can’t use an electric blanket.

I currently have flanelette sheets plus equivalent to 5 blankets on the bed.

2 months since I sign my will plus POAs and haven’t received their bill or my copies so emailed my lawyer.  Reply from her includes apology that somehow her office has lost my POAs.  Lawyer is self employed.  She has blamed her admin staff who have constantly been quitting during these last 2 months.       My therapist wonders why I have issues with trust.

Im taking some time away from SANE for awhile.  Nothing to do with anyone.

Take care
