Re: The Challenges of Mental Health Wellbeing

HI @utopia@Sans911@Bunniekins@soul@Appleblossom@outlander

I am so glad you like my cat stories Sans - there are always new ones - she is an old and clever cat - we  understand each other - I don't know what I will feel when the time comes for her to leave but I am not taking on another cat - this one is 14.5 now - and I don't fancy starting a training course that takes years to work out - I just pray this old girl - the cat - and me I guess - can go on for a while

She won't let me put one finger on top of her paw - no - it cat language the top place is the boss's place and so even having one finger on top of her paw isn't allowed

Anyway - I hope everyone is getting weather more to theire liking - with everything happening in my life right now at least the weather is cooler - I left for Tassie in the summer and it was hot and humid - a few days later I returned an it was autumn and in spite of the challenges I like autumn

I feel challenged atm - there is a lot going on in my life -  and in other's lives too - that is unsettling - and agencies outside ourselves have demands, issues, rules or whatever word fits that we can't do anything about - sometimes it's "Hurry up and wait" - or "Phone us" but they are too busy to answer the phone and yes - would be wonderful if things were easy but often they are not

And my uncle's health too - he is a very sick man - he may recover - he may not - and all I can do is leave it in God's hands - thanking him that I saw my Tassie rellies when I did and wait - but I am not very good about folding my hands and waiting - I grind my teeth but at least my teeth have stopped aching

The best I can do for myself - the best idea I can offer - is accepting that all of these things are uncomfortable - we know the Serenity Prayer - we can ask for

Strength to change what we can

Learn to accept what we can't

And have the wisdom to know the difference

But I hear other people - a lot of people find themselves stuck with hard stuff than is challenging

Well - this forum is great that we can share all these things - I have to learn to share some of my stuff because it really does help

But I am throughly over the headaches and they are stress-related - I have seen the doctor and know the pain is in the muscles that clench the jaw - and I do relaxing things - which work fine -

Gimme time - I will work this out but I think for a lot of things I do have a choice of sitting on a hot stove or getting off it - I just have to work on it

All the best everyone

Re: The Challenges of Mental Health Wellbeing

Oh @Sans911@Owlunar and all

You would have loved my cat last night as I wanted to drive off.  Nup.  Walked and sat right in front of car, turned his back to me and looked down the street.  I had to rev up to get him to move. He knows I wont run him over!

Re: The Challenges of Mental Health Wellbeing

I would love your cat @Appleblossom

I don't drive now but when I have had someone here to help mine does not want them to leave either - she is a very socialable cat - and she will walk right under the car - but yes - quickly moves when the engine gets revved

The evenings are drawing in now and I don't let her out at night but as the shadows lengthen and I let her out late-ish - she does run off for a while - or - she walks around the block just in frong of me - and knows I can't get down fast enough to catch her - and this can go on for hours -

There must be interesting things happening for cats at night - and mine even wants to go out in the rain - I get the attraction there though - I like some rain myself

Re: The Challenges of Mental Health Wellbeing

Lovely to chat @Owlunar

He is 15 ... so an old man cat ... he used to sing and warble and chat, but he has gotten very expressive in his howls and has become grumpy in his old age ... maybe aches & pains ... maybe missing his bro ... an outdoor boy but gradually accepting more creature comforts.

He used to be my protector cat ... checking out all comers.

Re: The Challenges of Mental Health Wellbeing

I love to chat too - @Appleblossom - atm I am on the phone to Centrelimk - typing one handed

I love "an old man cat" just like mine being an old girl -I never had a cat this long though an old stray I had might have been older

Finally - I got through to Centrelink

Where was I - yes - cat do get chatty when they are older - I guess we understand our cats and they understand us - and home comforts - it's really funny - yeah
