Want to forget TW

Re: Want to forget TW

LOL @FloatingFeather A tip for next time: thread a piece of string through some cardboard, put the cardboard in the hole behind the plaster wall, pull it flush with the inside of the wall using the string to hold it in place, plaster one layer over the cardboard, cut the string when it is dry and plaster the final layer.

Yeah - definitely need the digger attachment so won't get all I wanted to do done these holidays but really in no rush. I can concentrate on the front yard for now. If I can get the path to the gate done then that will be enough.

Re: Want to forget TW

Great tip @Zoe7! Note to self, before I try anymore DIYs I will run it past you first as you have some great suggestions and practical ideas. I'm embarrassed to admit it but not only did it take me three goes to get the patch right but also two trips to Bunnings because I ran out of patches lol!

Re: Want to forget TW

Oh you made me laugh @FloatingFeather 🤣 I often have to make multiple trips to Bunnings to get things I have messed up first time. I often rush and that is not a good recipe to finish the job right ....but we learn hey. Your 'note to self' also made me giggle - happy to be of service anytime 👍

Need to lie down again for a while. I am sure it is the flu shot making me feel unwell. I was going to go to my sister's this afternoon but not up to it. I have my pdoc appointment tomorrow afternoon so might go after that ...fingers crossed I am feeling better tomorrow.

Re: Want to forget TW

I'm glad I was able to make you laugh a bit @Zoe7 - especially since you aren't feeling to well. I have found those flu shots can knock people around for a day or two after they have them. I hope you are feeling a lot better soon.

It's good to know that I'm not the only one that has messed up the first time and made other trips to Bunnings - it's not the prettiest looking patch but it's done the job. Just need to find the matching paint and the job is done (just got to find where I put the paint now lol).

Get better soon my friend and thanks for being my go to DIY expert 🙂

Re: Want to forget TW

Anything for you @FloatingFeather 💖

Slept for a couple of hours, fed the fur babies ('cos they would not let me sleep longer - one jumping on me and one walking all over me). Then pulled apart my printer to fix ...can now print again but my hands are a nice rainbow of coloured ink LOL

Will be heading to bed soon though as still not feeling okay. Hopefully you are having a nice relaxing evening and the kids and fur babies are being kind to you 💖

Re: Want to forget TW

Hi @Zoe7,

You are too kind - anything for you to my friend but please note my handy person skills aren't too crash hot compared to yours. Plus how good are your printer maintenance skills! You made me laugh when you said your hands were the colours of a rainbow lol!

How's all with you today? Hope you are well and feeling a lot better. How are your gorgeous fur babies? All good with my babies - furry and human thanks although I am secretly looking forward to Wednesday when school goes back. I love having my son home but I miss having a clean house (even just for a few hours). I don't know why I bother making the bed when I know he is going to lay on it during the day and mess it up!

Re: Want to forget TW

Hi @FloatingFeather @Zoe7

I used to do handy-man stuff - no longer though - I remember having the right tools and equipment to fix the upstairs outside blinds in my unit way back in the day when I could actually manage this sort of thing - to drill holes through the woodwork and thread the cord through and attached it too the blinds to pull them down - it was so good to have those blinds down on hot afternoons as those windows were large and faced south west - I had views of Port Phillip Bay from three rooms - that was a terrific place to live - it's been pulled down now - and I loved that flat - things change.

I did all sorts of man-chores then - not now though - those days have long passed - however - this week my gardener removed a vine that was growing near my back door and something has been eating it - my gardener daughter didn't know what it was and neither did the gardener - so it's gone and I plan to plant some jade there - and the back courtyard is bigger and brighter without it - so - yes - I will transplant some of my succulents there and there are rocks already in place to make a rock garden.

Yes Zoe - I have heard that some people can have flu-like symptoms after the fluvax - which is unfortunate - was it lucky or not to have this while you were hoping for time to recover from covid and prepare some things for the new term? The light and the shadow of life - chiaroscuro - we need one to have the other - I hope you are feeling better by now.

I hope both of you are having a reasonable time - the best possible - and it is Friday - do the kids go back to school on Wednesday this week? - after all - it is Anzac Day on Tuesday so why go back to school just for one day.

Has anyone heard if we get a public holiday for the coronation? It's an important day for the British - and I am a monarchist - I will most likely watch it - after all - the chances are not good I will see another one - I do remember when Queen Elizabeth was crowned - we didn't have TV in Australia then.

Sending hugs

Re: Want to forget TW

Hey @FloatingFeather 💖 I can't believe holidays are nearly over. Whilst I am thankful for you getting your tidy house back this week, I could do with another week (or three). I am beginning to feel a lot better though. I still get tired easily but am able to do a lot more as well. I have been doing my path the last couple of days - lots of paver cutting and grinding of concrete today but it is all nearly ready to lay. I have packed up for the day, washed all the concrete dusk off and ready for a quiet night with the fur babies. I will get back into it in the morning and then hopefully be able to finish it off Sunday before a couple of days of work before school goes back.

My printer is working but will need to be replaced when I can afford to do so. Anything that needs to be a good quality I can print at work next week. It is not worth getting it fixed properly - it is old so may as well replace it.

Toby has been supervising me outside. He had a bath last night as he was a light shade of grey. He was super white until this afternoon but with him sitting so close to me all the time, he of course got a little dirty again - nowhere near what he was yesterday though. Clover is just as cute as ever. Her new trick is to walk up and down me in the morning until I feed her - fur babies do not understand holidays!!!

Re: Want to forget TW

It was good to have the flu vac in the holidays @Owlunar I have had a reaction every year so to be able to be home to get through it was a good thing. I am feeling much better. I still get tired easily but am starting to be able to do more things without the constant aching. My back has not been great but that too is improving - so all heading in the right direction.

We do have Monday off as well then back to work on Wednesday. I am looking forward to seeing the kids but I could do with more time. I think another week would have been good for me to keep improving health wise but it is what it is ...and only 3 days then the weekend so I will take it as easy as I can.

Re: Want to forget TW

I'm glad you are recovering - however slowly @Zoe7  - it will take time - and although a couple of extra days don't seem like much it is at least something.

I'm getting the fluvax next Monday - I had the covid shot a few weeks back and I had to wait 4 weeks - yet we can have both on the same day - which has something to do with the T-cells.🤔

I really hope the next few days are peaceful for you and your furry family - I love it that they wake you up in the morning - my old cat would walk around on me during the evenings - needing to get between me and my book - or the edge of the bed - but she was a late sleeper

All the best
