Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

I had to de-clutter, as soon as my Mum's parcel arrived @Former-Member

That's because she sends me bags full of rubber bands, 100's of paper-clips, spoilt (off) lollies, etc.

Even food that was off (not safe to eat) on one occasion. Sometimes old clothes that don't fit me.

My psychologist says it's a trait (habit) of obsessive hoarders, which both of my parents were.

Apparently there's a sense of satisfaction (or relief) when Mum sends me junk (rubbish), because that gets it off her hands.

There's never any thought of "does the person I'm sending this to really want it"? Or "Is this really of any use to anyone"?

The answer would be no (both times).

Then I'm left with the guilt of having to throw it out - when it should have been thrown out at Mum's end, & would have saved her the postage...

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

@Former-Member thanks! This is perfect for me as I have just moved house and have the opportunity to organise my home and declutter while I unpack.

As a horder I think having others to support me will help me achieve it.

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

I'm adding this to my goal list for 2018

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

I have no idea @Former-Member .. I was just conversating re I had recently taken stuff to salvos 😀

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

Aww thanks Dec @Owlunar 😀 You too

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

@Former-Member
A couple of friends have stick vacuums and they love them - lightweight, good for small jobs. Worked out a spot where we can put one so will see how much a good one costs. I am told some of the cheap ones don't do the job so well.

@Adge How perfectly dreadful, would certainly take the shine off receiving a parcel.

Hey @Awpgirl nice to meet you. Tackling one box at a time sounds like a good plan.

@TAB containerising is a great way to sort stuff, as long as it is stuff we need and not just packing away things we no longer need. Labelling containers is also helpful.

@Former-Member nice to meet you too

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

True @Former-Member I had a friend once who used to pack containers for roadside picnics etc and knew exactly where everything was, and was a neat and organised. I thought it was a bit nuts at time but have been wishful that I had done similar a few times since then 😀..
