Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

@Faith-and-Hope Snowboarding was amazing thank you.

I think I need to get over the huge fatigue I'm experiencing. I have come home to a huge list of time critical tasks and can't seem to find anyone who can help.

At the moment I can barely make dinner for my boys and have a shower.

Needless to say I am choosing to avoid placing myself under undue pressure.

Attagirl @Awpgirl ..... steady does it ...

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

I diligently avoided doing any decluttering today.Woman Tongue

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

Looking for @Former-Member - how are you doing today?

Hope everyone else is doing okay or better than okay.

I have eaten leftovers thus clearing out the fridge. Just noticed the dust on the ceiling fan in my bedroom. It's thankfully gotten a bit cooler and I haven't needed to switch it on today. Must get up there and clean the blades.

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

So last night this happened.
I dreamt that I decluttered my bedroom by emptying out all my draws and neatly organising my room.
I woke up this morning with all my draws empty and my floor full of their contents.

I guess some could say my dreams come true.
Narcolepsy strikes again. Grrrrrr

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

I'm physically exhausted for multiple reasons and even simple tasks at the moment take a huge effort.

I am struggling to get basic housework tasks completed let alone start decluttering.

However I am taking the following approach; if I enter a room I will do three things to improve the area. At the moment for example when I go into the kitchen I put at least three things in the dishwasher as I leave the kitchen I put three things in the bin etc

It seems small however I am slowly making progress without overloading myself.

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

That has been my take on housework on my low-energy days for many years now @Awpgirl ..... believe me, it works.  I call it “grazing” .....

Bahahaha! You're so funny Apple 🙂 thanks for the giggle 🙂

Hello @soul - i'm here. How are you? Haha with your cleaning out the fridge leftovers 🙂 - i can relate to that lol My br fan has that thick dust to be dobe too. Interesti g how it builds up (to disgusting) & before we know it its a BIG JOB 😞 But lets make it a committment today? to 'CONQUER' THE FAN DUST! (one allergy pill at a time lol) Check in to night 🙂

Actually just Popped in to report another crime clean i committed here last night. Emptied x8 open wine bottles - left the Gin & Wisky - they don't age do they? Mum was the drinker - funny how i still fear her looking over my shoulder - about to BLAST me for touching things - esp alcohol 😞 Have to keep check on my thinking here - reminding myself i'm not doing anything 'wrong' or - 'this is the 'right' thing to do... $makes mw tired). Even found a packet of crackers there exp date 2010 (happens a lot here), and a large bottle of long exp fish oil caps 😕 - so much waste! Thursday is 'FILL THE BINS DAY' (for weekly collection tomorrow) & its looking good re energy today.

Low Energy 😞 - so understand your struggle in that department @Awpgirl - good advice from @Faith-and-Hope there - to do little spurts of clearing at a time - then have a lay down. Whatever healthy method it takes to cope - especially with children. Prioritise things. Well done! to you.

TIME FOR MY MORNING CUPPA EBT - back later 🙂

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

@Former-Member, my parents weren't big drinkers, but would always have a few bottles for occasional drinks. Surprise find, though, was a couple of bottles of homebrewed fruit wines at the back of the top shelf of the pantry. They were dated sometime in the 1990s, and the corks had deteriorated, so I strained out the corky fragments and carefully sampled. There was a white that was slightly vinegar but not too bad, so I used that up as cooking wine; and a red that had boysenberries in it, and was actually really nice. So that one got decanted into two smaller bottles, and my sister and I took one each. Smiley Happy

We found some expired groceries too. I'm a bit of a "no waste" cook, so old bikkies, packet mix cakes, dried fruit and suchlike got used up one way or another. Fruitcakes are a wonderful way of using up odds and ends of slightly crystaline or dried hard fruits. Nyummy. (Don't worry, I did toss anything that was sus... but slightly stale is OK once cooked up.)

More bothersome was the amount of prescription and other medication we found in all sorts of odd spots around the house. I think she was stocking up big once the yearly PBS limit kicked in and scripts became free, and also losing track of where she'd put things. All the half used packets and "out of date" ones went to the chemist for disposal (a shopping bag full); the "in date" ones that were still on their medications list went to the aged care home for them; the "in date" ones not on their current list I took to our local medical centre, so that the doctors there could pass them on to other patients who needed them.

I know what you mean about feeling guilty. It's taken me 2+ years to get to the point of being able to tell myself that, despite still being alive, Mum can't "own" the things in the house anymore, because she can't take them into the aged care home. I'm putting aside a suitcase full of craft materials that I think she'll actually use, and will take them in as she uses up what she has there. There's a few special ornaments she'd like to have, but she hasn't got a safe place to put them, so we're not taking them in. It's not as if her room is bare. We took in some special bits and pieces when they first moved there, including pictures for their walls. Looks quite homey, really.

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

@Smc ..... can I suggest a “brag book” of photos - the small ones that take one photo per page - of the ornaments and things your mum would like to have in the aged care home, but can’t fit it are not safe ? Maybe take a photo of them “in situ” before you move and pack things away, so as far as he is concerned, they are still where she left them and can feel at peace about that. Obviously tell her if you want to ..... just suggesting there is room to be a bit flexible, and she can still show her prized possessions to friends and visitors if she chooses.
