Life can be a Pain

Re: Life can be a Pain

Yes @utopia - we need the politicians to play a contact sport - and see who wins and let them sort it out and leave us alone -

They need to leave everything alone except what happens in rough sport -

Leave our homes and families - mostly our sons, fathers and everyone else alone.

We have had war in so many theatres in my life time - I get edgy every time there is a new one - I guess I have memories of WW2 - not anything obvious but rather the scarity of some things and the black out screens and the city being browned-out - I was very young and it's interesting how much children do remember even if we are supposed to be too young to have memories at that age -

But what do they know -

Tomorrow will be tomorrow - I hope if I go to bed earlier - I will wake up earlier and feel better - but whatever - tomorrow will be tomorrow and have it's own events - I haven't thought about tomorrow yet

Thanks Utopia

Re: Life can be a Pain

What do us children know of war @Owlunar ?
You remember the shortages.
I remember my father screaming during his nightmare flashbacks of Vietnam. I remember a very angey and violent man. I remember how we went with mum to get hekp from the Department if Veteran Affairs and how they turned her away. I remember the psychiatrist telling her that if she leaves dad - he will suicide and it would be ger fault (late 70's - early 80's).
I remember taking him to the Heidelberg Hospital. I remember him walking home again. And ys taking him right back. I remember the stench if beer on his breath. I remember how it took over 20 years fir him to be diagnosed with PTSD. I remember him on such strong psych meds that he was like a zombie. I remember him dying at age 53. I remember how tormented he was - my whole life.
So yes. We remember. And there is nothing good to remember about war. And yet our service men and women are still suffering fromffighting in wars. And the government keeos encouraging youth to sign up.
Rant over.
Must look up those prayers Dec. Hang in there. What's the plans for your day? Always something to do here. Had the Dawn Service with dad yesterday & practically slept the day away after that, so it's 'catchup' jobs today xox

Re: Life can be a Pain

Rant away about that war @utopia

The way our soldiers were treated was really bad and you were a front row observer to all of that - and that is really horrible for a small child or young person - anyone really

I'm sorry Utopia

I took things really slowly today @Former-Member - I slept well but woke up tired and stayed tired all day - but fell asleep late in the afternoon - or rather I woke up late - whatever time I went to sleep - and then I did my chores

I think I am run down - really tired and I have to look after myself first - then my daughter - and after both of us have recovered I will go to Hobart and see what's happening there - with my relatives so ill - or whatever seems right at the time

I'm glad you went to the Dawn Service with your Dad - I went one year - to the Shrine in Melbourne - is was fantastic and I am so glad I went that year because the chance never presented itself again though we can never tell - I might go again sometime

I'm feeling better myself tonight - maybe I will be tired again tomorrow - but I have had a decent dinner and after a nap today maybe I will be okay

Those prayers are in the big red Anglican Prayer Book - called the Red Brick - and the prayers are at the back and for just about anything we could need - my uncle gave me my copy and I have used it but never read the back section - I hope you can find one because those prayers are really something

Re: Life can be a Pain

Thanks @Owlunar. Unfortunately I think most generations have experience of war either first hand or second hand like me. And yet the powers that be still think it's wise to sacrifice people to war. Maybe us pacifists should be running the countries around the world. Lol.
Hi @outlander @Former-Member and all. Hope everyone has had a good day.
I'm off to take some sleeping tablets to try and reset my sleep clock. Wish me well.
