It makes sense to me @Faith-and-Hope@greenpea
Likewise - works without faith is pretty empty too
I met an old lady - she had faith but it was an unexamined faith and she had a problem with me because I think about faith a great deal -
Faith is tough stuff - religion is not easy either - it's not a place for sissies - and Greenpea - I do wish you the best - going to church is great and a place to start - but I haven't been to church for years now - I left for my own reasons and miss it
I wish you the best - I am open to talk about if at any time

@Owlunar Thank you Dec you are right it is tough religion and faith. It requires self discipline which I dont often have. Believing in something when there are so many conflicting arguements about it is really tough.

Hi @Faith-and-Hope @Snowie @Shaz51 @greenpea @Owlunar @Appleblossom @Former-Member and everyone else passing by here today...
DBT was a little easier today than last week but there were a couple of triggering moments. I can't talk about them with my pdoc as she is away unwell today...and HC is unavailable today also - not a great day for everyone to be 'away'!
My toe and back are really hurting but now that I don't have to go back to see my pdoc I can have painkillers - that will hopefully help with the pain and I may be able to sleep this afternoon. I think that is the best way for me to stop thinking and hope there are no nightmares.
I hope everyone is having a reasonable day and seeing just a little bit of light in unexpected moments

Hi @greenpea
Religion is complicated and there are conflicting opinions - of course they are - all through history people have insisted on their religion as being the only right one and I am radical enough to say that we need to work out what we believe and somehow stick to it - I guess that's where self-discipline comes in - actually I haven't had a problem sticking to believing the tenets of my own
A couple of things I find interesting - one is that there are no athiests present in a plane that is crashing - I didn't think that one up - someone else did.
And - when it comes to the law it doesn't matter what I know it all depends on what I can prove - when it comes to God it doesn't matter what I can prove - it all depends on what I believe
When I was studying the Philosophy of Religion at university - a young man interupted what I was saying and told me to prove there was a God - I told him that seeing as he had brough the idea of proof up could he first prove that there wasn't
Seeing as I have been with the same Christian Demonination all my life I have never had to start from scratch with religion - I imagine that the conflict within different forms of Christianity would cause difficulties when a person new to it starts to find their path. This is tough. Where do you start and what do you learn? Where to begin.
One thing about the Religions of the Book - Christianity, Judaism and Islam - we have the Bible and the tenets of the faith already worked out but the Fathers of these religions - Depending on whatever background you might already have I suggest you start with St Mark's Gospel and ask someone for a good commentary - it would be on the internet anyway - lots of passages are explained - and work from there
Self-discipline comes when we need to follow through - but I know God appreciates effort - he can see our inmost being and we can only do our best
And I wish you the best
