Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hearing you @Former-Member ......

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

hello @Former-Member, how is mr @Former-Member with emotions Heart

Are you finding that even the enjoyable things are too much for Mr Shaz? -- yes @Former-Member, don1t know if it is part of Bipolar 11 or something else

but my poor darling will spent a morning driving and doing photograhy and then he is soo tired and needs to go to bed

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

@Shaz51

I know Mr D has difficulty enjoying a lot of things that are usually pleasurable and he finds memories of enjoyable times distressing - he sees them more of what he has lost rather than things to be looked back on with fondness.  Mr D will often snooze in the recliner when reading of an afternoon after doing his round the house jobs in the morning.  Today he did some mowing in our yard so did not sleep but came in for a drink feeling quite distressed as he was having ocd thoughts.

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

today`s emotion was alarming , I am feeling soo sorry for my mum @Former-Member

interested in the ocd thoughts @Former-Member

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

How was Mr Shaz emotional @Shaz51?

Mr D's ocd thoughts are all quite benign in many ways but very disabling for him - he worries about things ike not pronouncing words right or thanking me in good time for doing things (when he gets bad, with others too) for example I got a sorry recently as he had not thanked me at an appropriate time for cooking lunch Christmas Day 2016.  I don't know if the thoughts are more intrusive rather than repetitive, but he certainly ruminates.

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Not @Former-Member, we were doing some trimming for mum and mr shaz pull somebig weeds  out and knocked mum over and I had to pick her upoff th ground  and he kept going

then on friday when we were working , he came and gave me a big hug and said he could not live without me

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Oh dear @Shaz51, did he not notice he had knocked mum over?

Mr D is not spontaneous with his affection, hugs at specific times and has a few loving phrases that he repeats but it is his way of expressing love and I am grateful he does so. When he is not doing so well, some of these hugs get dropped but I usually get one or two a day minimum.
