Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Oh dear @Shaz51 that is a bit concerning.

Mr D has gone to a camp for 2 nights. It is for a peer support group. He has a couple of medical appts to go to tomorrow, I would usually go along to one of them, as we are not expecting complications Mr D should be right on his own. Am feeling a little nervous, hoping he will be ok as he has been struggling a little lately.

On a completely different note, a friend popped in briefly this evening after dark to dispatch a couple of unwanted roosters for us for which I was most grateful.

Hello @Former-Member, @Former-Member, @Faith-and-Hope, @Adge. @Determined. @Former-Member, @Lesley, @Anna88, @Susana, @LOVELUKE, @soul, @Former-Member, @Owlunar, @Appleblossom, @PeppiPatty

what a day !!!!!!

we worked this morning , came home and it is raining , decide to go buy a new washing machine ,mr shaz picks the first one he sees , did a couple of loads at my mum`s , mum hang our washing out

got our new washing machine from the city , came home and it is sunny --- mr shaz tells me his anxiety has gone through the roof -- because we should be working

oh well we will be working on saturday , took the old machine to the dump , I added a few more things to go to the dump which will cost us more he said ,

washing machine in , and mr shaz is having a couple of beers

then he says that he thinks the alchol is affecting with his anxiety , so we are going to stop drinking to see if it helps Smiley Very Happy

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Sounds like it has all been happening @Shaz51 hope the new machine gives you good service. Bless your mum for helping with the washing.

Giving up alcohol can be good for both mind and body - apart from the intoxicant potential, it does not help the waistline. We have pretty much been alcohol free since we moved approx 7 years ago, perhaps having an occasional glass when we go out. We were only ever light drinkers in any event but not long after moving one Friday evening after work I was feeling like a drink but realised what I was really missing was the friendships of the people we used to catch up with on a Friday and not the grog.  Alcohol is certainly not recommended in conjunction with most psych meds - CMI will usually mention this,

Love the pic @Former-Member

That's the look I sometimes get when I tell them I rarely drink alcohol but when I do I go for Australian Fortified Wine or Baileys

That owl is a beauty - and the bee - Wow

@Shaz51

Poor old Mr Shaz - he does worry - after you filled in the blanks I get it - I understand - no matter how he looks at it something is bound to be wrong - I guess buying a washing machine was a stressor for him

How great your mother helped out with your washing - that would be a huge help

I'm really glad for you

Definitely - I really enjoy one of those - if I go out people rarely have port but nearly always have Baileys - and hey - all that milk contains calcium

How are  you today? I know things have been rough

And hi @Shaz51  and @Former-Member - may your Saturday be the best possible under the circumstances

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Morning @Shaz51 @Owlunar @Former-Member

@Shaz51 I think Mr D would very much be the same as Mr Shaz when looking at washing machines, though likely to pick one on sale irrespective of our laundry requirements. He has zero interest in what make or model washing machine we have, as long as it works. Wants to get in and out the shop as quickly as possible.

It isn't all gloom and doom @Owlunar, today Mr D and I plan on going out for lunch and to the movies.

At times it does concern me that anyone who is struggling would think that because as a carer I have posted and asked for support from other forum members to help me through the tough times that come with loving and caring for someone with a chronic condition that it is any way an indictment on the person that needs our love and support.

@Former-Member hope today goes well and both you & Dad have a good day out.

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness
