A weed (wide definition) is any plant that's in a place where it's not wanted.

More specifically, weed usually means an exotic or introduced plant that is invasive, & that displaces native plants.

Many garden plants could be weeds in the bush, but we love them & they're usually fine in our gardens.

I had tiny wild poppies spring up in my front yard (probably a potential weed).

I liked them so much that I collected their seeds when they finished flowering - & I planted them around the garden (only a few came up)...

I like the plant I have growing over the bare patches in my garden - weed or not - it suits me

Like your poppies - my ex-h used to do the gardening and he grew poppies on year and I loved them - I haven't tried to plant annuals here because the soil is hydrophobic

I hope you are doing okay Adge - I don't get notifications now because I was overwhelmed but I am always glad to hear from you and I hope you are much better now the warmer weather is here - at least - we have some warmer days in Melbourne

Bit never quite thought of a hem as "exotic or introduced plant that is invasive, & that displaces native plants" hmm. I love that you "had tiny wild poppies spring up in your front yard - collected their seeds & I planted them around the garden & scored a few" Cool! I do the same thing when functional. Actually, only yesterday i dug up a rogue white petuna from the lawn, in flower, and replanted it 🙂 - plus some others, before mowing. I love self seeding plants. I have self seeding deep purple dasie (among mauve & white), it struggles to grow more than the others so it gets priority in my garden, plus its my girls fav colour. Geraniums cut back cancome up nice too & cuttings take well. I have a bright red.

I'm watching the movie 'Blind Side' withe Sandra Bullock? Highly recommend it, true story.

The weather is already getting quite hot here @Owlunar
Not long now & it will be up to 40C (or over).

I really struggle with the Summer, my energy drops through the floor...

I have some lovely lantanas in my garden, constantly in flower. It's generally too dry & hot for them to ever become a weed here.

But on the east coast they're considered a weed. We used to be able to buy most Lantanas in nurseries here.

I'm struggling with dissociation today, just keep going mentally blank & numb.

Even though I want to do things with the time I have. Which makes it so hard to focus on or do anything worthwhile.

My post was removed because they this k the towns I mentioned 1,000km away reveals my location, go figure! Negotiating with them to put it back. Sorry to readers if things appear out of context. I don't think there's anything revealing in my BACKYARD photos either - even they got a mention. I think its harassment and taking note of whose on duty these days. However, my mental health is less impacted these days, not like before (omg it was horrible), nowhere near as distressed as I use to be from being wrongly accused in the past. Repeatedly. Finally realised, its them, not me. I'm doing the right thing according to the guidelines, and pointing out beautiful places to visit. Even @Apoleblossom would say so.

Hi @Former-Member Yes Geraniums are great, I've grown quite a few from cuttings too.

A rogue petunia in the lawn, I love that. I would be digging it up & transplanting it too...

Petunias seem to get scorched here, & they don't last long, or they look scraggy & not nice after long.

I have Osteospermum daisies with purple & mauve flowers, that have self-seeded themselves around the front garden. I didn't water the original ones enough, so they mostly died.

Then they popped up in strange places where I had never planted them... That was fine with me, the more the merrier.

It's so hard to keep plants here happy & healthy, especially when I forget to water them.

HiYa there Darcy, nice to see you, let's use the last 4 wks of SPRING to really make a difference. Although I might crash around the 25th, so that's just 2wks. Do my best. Hope we can all inspire each other.

Actually, i have a confession to make 😗, today, on the way back from getting fuel for the mower - I rescued a baby's cot - saved it from the pending storm (bring wood). Poor thing was on the curb all alone with a sign saying FREE. An outcast, abandoned! looking for help... ... so, well, I just had to come to the rescue lol. Little thing fitted nicely in the back of my wagon (collapsed with screws & all). It will go in my spare room for charity / garage sale (whenever that is) ☺

Hey, I finished the back lawn, went over it twice (high cut then low), used x2tanks of fuel. Didn't feel like fainting the second time 😀 and even watered in case the rain takes longer to come. It looks good now, proud of myself 😇 lol

Well done getting the lawn under control @Former-Member (carefully avoids subject of curbside pick up)

Only small steps here. Thanks to the help of a friend got some door handles on a dining room cabinet that have been sitting there for nearly 2 years.

Hope to report more tomorrow. Will try and deal with a minimum 2 items a day.
