@Former-MemberOld sewing machines are often much desired items. Even if the case is water damaged, I'd suggest putting it on a local buy/swap/sell page. It may be taken off your hands surprisingly fast. Apart from a few "lemons", old sewing machines are like old handtools- solidly made and reliable.
I think I get what you mean about your Mum, but maybe not quite to the extent you feel it. Would it help you if you could refocus on the good things coming from this declutter for your Dad?

@Former-Member, hopeful sewing projects are definitely one of my biggest concentrators of stuff. But I look at all of the unfinished projects that my Mum had, most of which will now never be finished, and it's a strong reminder that one day I'll be beyond completing my own projects too... I'm not to that point yet, and hope that when it approaches I'll recognise it soon enough.

I have just had a huge incentive to get into some decluttering and make the yard tidy. I looked at a property with mum and dad I law this morning and are going to have our property valued to see if move is viable.
Just kicking tyres at the moment but looking it is a proposition worth investigating.
The property has a granny flat attached which would be ideal for mum and dad in old age and perfect for S1 in later years .

Had visitors with children today, kids toys in shed had been dumped in a bin with other stuff. Got out a couple of toys and cleaned them do the little ones had something to keep them entertained. Have sorted the contents of the bin and now gave toys clean and contained.
