SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

Hi @Former-Member - I'm in Victoria. There was an organisation that was sending books overseas to refugees but I think they are no longer operating. I know they had logistical issues with storing and shipping the books. I imagine that was quite expensive.

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

Hi @Adge - how is your rodent problem? They've been getting into my tomatoes. I covered them in bird net and they're just chewing through it. Definitely rats as a possum couldn't get through holes that size. I've been researching ways to get rid of them. I can't use bait as I have dogs and I've tried traps but they seem to be smart enough to not set them off. I've been reading that peppermint oil can be a deterrent and there are also glue traps - sort of like fly paper but able to catch a rat and glue their feet down. Might give them a go.

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

Yes @Former-Member Maybe give the glue traps & peppermint a try.
I don't know about those.
I've found that only bait works effectively for me - after decades of persistent rodents.
Even then it's hit & miss - because I think they're suspicious of the baits & don't always eat them.
I think I'm hearing more noises in the roof - so I think I need to get back up there & re stock the bait.
I hate that job - I have to go get a ladder & it's difficult to climb up through the manhole. Then it's terribly dusty & hot up there.

@Former-Member @Faith-and-Hope @Former-Member thank you so much for your suggestions!
I love the idea of recycling household items for this.

I have almost untangled one large tea chest of cables.

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

I have organised Good Sammy's to collect the items my children have grown out of and a skip for next week.

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

Very impressive with those cables @Former-Member. Do they get used or are they just collector's items? 😉

I have leads that I have no idea what they are for.

@Former-Member
Salvos have a guide to what they can and cannot accept, they will take books and certain TVs - here is the link to the page that has a downloadable guide.

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

Thanks @Former-Member - that's great information. It's good to get clarification on what they will and won't accept. Hi @soul - that's just the tip of my cable iceberg. I picked up a box of cables and things today off ziilch and I'll keep what I want for myself and give the rest away. I went through the pots and pans drawer today and found a few things that could be thrown out too so I'm slowly getting on top of things. I might book a council rubbish collection for next week to push me along a bit to rid the house of junk.

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

@Former-Member i booked a shire skip to get rid of my rubbish.
All the items going to good Sammy's are as good as new and any of the clothes freshly washed.

Re: SPRING-Clean Declutter - Need Help

The Good Sammy's took the two large boxes so I'm delighted to have been able to give something back to the community.

My plan for today is to put all my clothes that are two small for me in box. If I don't fit into them in one year I'll donate them to charity.

Thats my plan. Getting the motivation is really really hard. At the moment I can't get out of bed.
